I got an updated silver diagnostic cable and software package from these guys The install went without a hitch on my Win 7 x64 machine without a hitch and just used ISTA/D (Rheingold) to clear out my brake pad error (finally) and reset all CBS info. I had previously purchased a blue cable and older software package, so they offered a screaming deal for the full-meal-deal that I couldn't pass up. I have the CD's and the Silver Cable i use for dataloging but never transfered the cds to non optical drive computer.
If i upgrade to the new software and the BMW reference pack, do you know if i can just download it all, or is it update to the existing program? Will fwd you the email they sent, it's all download. I have the reference pack ISOs saved but haven't burned them to a disc yet. I have the cable from BM Technic, but I can't use their software anymore because thank you WIndows 10 upgrade. It messed up the DIS install so the Virtual Machine can no longer see the car (probably something to do with network config). But I can't reinstall the software package because BM Technic v2 put activation on their setup program, and since they are out of business, their servers are down.
How to install DIS w/ EasyDIS v44 step-by-step. Bmw X5 E70, Starters, Engineering, Technology. BMW X1 Thule Rapid Podium BLACK AeroBlade Base Roof Rack '11-'14.
I am curious if I could try your software pack with the cable I have from BM Technic if that'd work. I placed an order with bcables.com for a k scan cable INPA DIS ISTA P, payed with PayPal, like a week ago, but I don’t get any order confirmation, and dont answer by Email either. Did anyone buy with them?
Any experience? I have these from awhile back when I got a cable from bcables.com BMW ISTA BOOT DVD (this contains download links to ISTA/P, ITSA/D along with full installation instructions) You can download the BMW Reference ISOs on the links below.
DVD1 DVD2 DVD3 You need to download the files and then use a free program such as imageburn (download for free from ) to (extract) the files and burn onto a dvd. If you have Windows 8.1 or later you can download, right click select MOUNT and then run BCABLES_REFERENCE_PACK.exe.
I downloaded the V44 base and program from the 5_Fourm and extracted the files. The extracted file name is EasyDIS-base-44-v1.0.nrg, and burned it to a DVD. I followed the instruction to install the V44 base, changed the settings in VMware, mount the file in Deamon lite tool and changed the booting and sequence for DVD in the BIOS. However, the installation was stuck because the system did not find bootable file in my DVD and seems trying to boot from the network. Not sure if I burned the file correctly? Could anyone help me? P.S I am installing DIS V44 in my XP laptop.

Mount the ISO in your vmware virtual drive, fire up the GT1 and you'll see it listed at the admin screen as TIS V3. (yours might be different) all you need to do then is click the installation button in the TIS list, and it gets to work.
Looks to be pretty slow going, it's 1.5gb in a windows system (it'll run in XP separate if needed) or you can shove it in the vmware, as it's already allocated itself 16gbs or so, so might as well use that space for something. I was thinking about updating the DIS too since i have Progman on the go, but i wouldn't want to lose the setup done with the EasyDIS and Ken F's work. If you want an educated guess, I would say you need to configure protocols so that vm is set to run and choose SOFTING as your translator. Then you will need to set up the yellowhead by accessing the Administration tab, config menu, diagnostic head then Admin menu, connection setup. (ie do everything you would normally have to do to run a diaghead emulator, but since you have a diaghead, there should be no need for an emulator). Finally, restart ediabas from inside DIS so that your changes are adopted. Just my 2 cents worth.

Everything from the OP is installed and working, even have INPA installed for good measure. What's the next step? I don't have my cables yet (ordered but not received), but from my searching i've read about some kind of server and ip addresses setting and editing an.ini file and all that, but I haven't found any other step by step guides like this one that says what to do AFTER installing all this stuff, but BEFORE you can connect to your car.
